Safeguarding

Jesus gave everyone status, time and respect. Jesus also showed himself to be compassionately on the side of those without power, reaching across social barriers with the inclusive love of God. A Christian approach to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults, as well as those in abusive relationships, therefore, asks both individuals and communities to create a safe environment for them, to act promptly on any complaints made, to care for those who have been abused in the past, and to minister appropriately to those who have abused.

Our Safeguarding Officer is Steve Weston. He can be contacted by emailing: steve.weston@staidanscumbria.org

One we have received confirmation from the Charities Commission, the trustees of St. Aidan’s Cumbria will adopt the House of Bishops Safeguarding Policy for children, young people & adults, ‘PROMOTING A SAFER CHURCH’. For clarity, we will still use the policy to guide our work until the board of trustees have their first meeting. We also adhere to the procedures laid out in the Church of England Safeguarding Policy and Procedures. The trustees will annually review it's safeguarding policies, procedures and practices.

If you have a safeguarding concern, please contact steve.weston@staidanscumbria.org or john.freeman@staidanscumbria.org.
